It’s so nice to see the quality of beginner boards being raised to such a high standard. Lots of customisation options, good instructions, great product overall. If you’re a beginner looking for your first custom, this is a great option (just make sure you’re okay with winkeyless 65% layout).

This kit was clearly well thought out and has been executed very well, in love with mine!

This was my first time building a mechanical keyboard, and I had a blast! The instructional booklet was incredibly helpful; the visual guide was clear and easy to understand. For a first-time builder, this experience definitely gave me a positive first impression of the hobby overall. Can't wait to build more, although my wallet won't be as happy, lol.

I’ve got to say, as someone who a little over a month ago knew absolutely nothing about custom keyboards, the Bauer Lite was extremely user-friendly to build. It took me not even an hour from start to finish to assemble the entire thing. Stabilizers, switches, and a rad keycap set is everything else you’ll need.

- Overall quality is world class.
- Step-by-step instructs were simple and easy to comprehend.
- Color options are pretty on point with the translucent style of retro games consoles and accessories.
- The price was something I felt comfortable with just getting into the hobby.
- Even the packaging is an experience on its own!

Everything about it is just awesome! I cannot recommend this enough.

I enjoyed building my Bauer Lite. The building manual is one of my favorite things about this kit. You can tell that a lot of time and effort was put into creating the manual, and it really shows in the building process. I hope this becomes standard in the hobby as it made the building process a breeze. The board also looks and sounds incredible and, in my opinion, far exceeds the competition within the same price range. I also love the support for split backspace with the option for full. I hope to see more in terms of accessories such as weights and different, more customizable parts continue to roll out (I know they're in the works!) Overall, I highly recommend this kit and have really been enjoying the board.

I've been rocking this board for almost two months now and I absolutely love it. I purchased the atomic purple and snagged some OTC keycaps to go with it. Slapped in some stabs and some switches, and it sounds and feels so nice to type on.

It think it punches above it's class in terms of quality and compared to the other Plastic injected boards, it gets the gold.

In terms of build experience, I found it very easy; however, I've built many boards so it's second nature to me to put one together. For beginners though, the guide is so well thought out. Again, I've built a lot of boards, but this has one of the best build guides by far, which in my opinion is one of the things many entry/budget boards currently in the market struggle with (looking at you QK). So if you are a beginner and dig the aesthetic, I say buy it.

I have a few rather expensive boards and I got to say that the Bauer Lite is an absolute steal at the current price ($119.99). I built mine with no standoffs, the included foam and using Boba U4Ts 65g. This board actually sounds and feels better than more than a few of my much more expensive boards. I bought it as a travel board but once I built it I've just been daily driving it since I like it that much. I'm now a believer and can't wait until a Bauer3 gets released to pick up one.

If anybody is afraid/turned off by it being Winkeyless (I originally was); I can promise you that you will realize how little you use that key and setting it up layered is more than enough. No issues on Windows, Linux and Mac (modifiers inverted to mimic MacBook key order)

I purchased the Bauer Lite on a total whim without ever having intentions to even buy it but because there was an in-stock drop last month (Dec 2023), I figured why not try it out? I purchased the Bauer Lite Dec. 12 and received it Dec. 20. Shipping was super fast! Upon receiving it, I unboxed the kit and it was well-packaged. All parts were safely divided with a compartment for the smaller bits of the board. Building the board was super intuitive and logical. It helped that there were so many build videos out there on youtube from keyboard influencers that I was able to use them to supplement the build guide that was included. I didn’t have lube during this build, but even without lube, the Durock V2 stabs that I purchased with the kit sounded fine to start with. Once I got lube, the stabs sounded excellent on this board. I slapped on some Gateron Oil Kings and GMK Metropolis keycaps and ended up with a really good sounding and looking board. Programming the PCB with VIA was extremely simple and easy.

Overall, this is an amazing starter board for anyone trying to get into the hobby. My wife has a Glorious GMMK 2 and this board is leaps and bounds better than that board in terms of customizability, sound and aesthetic so if any of those things are a deciding factor to you, choose this board as your starter board. Oh, I totally forgot the kicker to all this: it’s affordable!

The Bauer Lite is a great board for both a beginner looking to dip their toes into the hobby or a long time enthusiast who just wants to add something fun to their collection.

You can really tell when building the board that a lot of love and care went into making the best possible product available for us consumers. From things like the super detailed builders guide to the smaller details like not making the gaskets crazy visible through the translucent keyboard case. Things that both the beginner and enthusiast care about.

The typing feel of the board is quite excellent and even throughout the board. The sound profile is very versatile depending on your configuration. I’ve heard others builds be super bright and clacky while mine is very very deep sounding and really packs a punch while typing.

Some small critiques are that I would to see a longer piece of heat shrink or even a sleeved cable for the JST cable to make it look even cleaner. It doesn’t look terrible it’s just a little ugly haha. I also would love it if in the future different plate materials would be offered. If this is doable of course.

All in all it’s a great board at a great price.

I recently purchased a Bauer Lite from Europe because they sold out so quickly on Omnitype. I just finished putting it together.

Every aspect of the board was thoughtfully crafted. I can only imagine the research and passion that went into creating something that is not only aesthetically stunning, but is equally appealing to a hobby enthusiast and a keyboard noobie. This keyboard is a monumental success and I hope it will inspire other designers to continue raising the bar. You will NOT find a better polycarbonate keyboard at this price point, and I'd argue at double the price either. It checks all the right boxes.

From the moment I opened the box to the final step in the thorough and detailed instruction booklet, you can tell there was no stone left unturned in the production of this work of art. Even the packaging was lovingly crafted; the curves on the box mirror the same front and back curves on the keyboard. Incredibly tasteful! And the extra screws and gaskets in case you mess something up were clearly added so you wouldn't have to stress about getting everything right the first time!

November 2020, it was a rough week of L’s. I saw a note that there was a Bauer 2 re-roll and I thought, what are the chances I have an email in spam. Sure enough, there it was, my first keeb raffle win. But sadly I would not love my Bauer. No hotwap? Split backspace? So much brass that was wonderfully/awfully loud.

When the Bauer lite was announced it was an answer to my prayers. Hotswap? Check!, full backspace? Check!, Lighter and less loud? Check! Backwards compatibility with Bauer 2? Chefs kiss. That price point? Amazeballs!

So I’ve been waiting years and now my love affair with the Bauers is finally here.

Bauer Lite is the perfect thocky, easy to build travel board of my dreams. My Bauer 2 is now rebuilt with new parts and is everything I wanted it to be.

Thanks Omnitype team. It was a long wait but worth it. Here’s to continued success!

Everyone else go buy one. You won’t regret it.

First of all, this is the best 65% in my collection. In fact I sold the rest of my 65's because this took the top spot for my needs. Some think expensive is where it's at, but this keyboard competes with the best at its value point and construction quality.

Omnitype took their time with this and didn't rush the creative process to just release something. As a people we've become very accustomed to "right here, right now" and we as a people aren't very versed in the subtle art of waiting.

Wine takes take. Whisky takes time. Dry-aged steak takes time. Seasoned wood for fireplaces takes time. The Bauer Lite took time...and it's perfect.

The build process from start to finish is unique to the board but ultimately 100% Bauer. The sound profile will depend on your switches, keycaps, temperate, desk construction, how you hold your head, calculated rotation of the Earth, as if the starling is on your windowsill so I shall not remark on the absolute sound profile; it's just goooooooood.

I grabbed the Ghost and immediately knew the keycap set that I would pair with it.

Be proud of you and your team. You've cared for every step of the process and it was released at the right time much like a matured spirit. You've truly created a wonderful keyboard.

This is the best “budget” board I’ve ever used. Build guide is top tier, so it makes the building experience a breeze! I was lucky enough to be able to snag a first edition and I’m so glad I did, I absolutely love using this board

You can tell they put a lot of thought and effort into this keyboard. Everything from the packaging, presentation, build, and sound is great (easily suprasses this price point). The build guide is just perfect and really easy to follow along if it’s your first time building. I highly recommend this keyboard whether you are just starting out or already have a few keyboards. In summary, the wait was worth it.
